According to an official release from the North Carolina Office of the Governor, Marlene Louise Sanders of Wake County, representing Merck & Company, was appointed to the Biotechnology Center Board of Directors. The Governor’s Teacher Advisory Council added several educators, including Rachel Maria Ogo Candaso, the 2025 Burroughs Wellcome Fund North Carolina Teacher of the Year.

Dr. Valerie Ann Johnson of Granville County, of the North Carolina Environmental Justice Network and NC State University, was appointed to the Environment Justice Advisory Council, along with Dr. Jovita Lee of Wake County, who works with the NC Black Alliance and Advance Carolina.

In health care, Dr. Sylvester Ejeh, an interventional cardiologist, was named to the Justus-Warren Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Task Force. The Marine Fisheries Commission will include Johnathan Edward Mallette of Onslow County, a commercial fisherman and seafood chef.

The North Carolina Acupuncture Licensing Board appointed Dr. Crystal Noelle Cliff of Charlotte. Kim Heffney, with prior roles at the State Bureau of Investigation and NC Department of Adult Correction, was appointed to the Alarm Systems Licensing Board.
